FELMAUSA – ‘WE WILL BE TRUE TO THEE TILL DEATH
Felmausa is a proud Liberian Mandingo Organization! I say this with no inch of doubt about even those knick-knock role I role I currently detest in the Federation. I believe strongly that Chairman Abraham Kromah and his now celebrated Chairman of the Board’s Public Relations Committee, Ishmeal Kromah are celebrants of this Mandingo effort. The truth, however is that Felmausa’s intent is not conclusive and will not be conclusive until and unless we understand that the will of the majority should supersede all other wills.
The inauguration of the Medical Mission has unearthed a new reality. The Medical Mission’s endeavor is also an opportunity for each and all Felmausans to reflect soberly and solemnly on the direction of our unity.
It is sad that the following Board Members are repulsive to a project – first of its kind, promoting a genuine Mandingo cause. Their allegation is that ‘the board did not approve the undertaking’. But sincerely, they represent nothing but a party full of envy or just simply confused. In this case, the represent a negative stance, negative perception and, above all, a stance to nothingness.
The Felmausa Board of Directors has over 30 members and only a fraction of a fraction that is nudging the Medical Mission. The Board’s Co-Chairman and Secretary General are two of the three-member Executive Committee that are in prayers, supporting the Medical Mission. Thus, Chairman Kromah finds himself alone. Others are either not aware of the true circumstances or are just deceiving. Otherwise, there is a vast difference between CONTRACT and PROPOSAL. Also on the flip side of the coin, there are always others whose mind or brain might be hypothermic cases – simply too cold to think or advance. Once they assume something, their next step is to act on such assumption. WHAT A DRAW-BACK DELIMA! And yet they know not.
The Medical Mission, worth nearly half Million United States dollars, is a HELP-ON-THE-WAY by Mandingoes and through Mandingoes but for all Liberians. Volunteers to implement the venture come from nearly every ethnic group and beyond. This is one area that the instinct of each and all of us should have been flinched to act in manners and spirit that will celebrate our unity. This is more so when we think of how long did it take and the circumstances that predated the formation of a single Liberian united front. Barely four years ago, Felmausa was borne. While diversity in opinion is a fine recipe for a formidable social entity, the lack of objectivism can however, be considered as that ‘angel’ of strangulation. Ours is a community that is envy by others, some of whom present white-washed smile. Yet, the sword to thrust into our backs is just a heart beat away. Why, Fellow brothers? I mean have we forgotten so soon? If the heavens are now smiling at us how hard is it that we can not muster the courage to tramp on triviality? This is sad – very sad.
It is worthy that each and all of us stand up for the protection of the Felmausa Constitution. Anyone who shrink under such patriotic responsibility is, indeed, an enemy to community development. To do so, however, requires a sober reflection. In the first place, one must understand the language and context of a given constitution. In Felmausa, what I see in count 8 of section 8.8 is that the Administration needs Board approval on only contracts worth $1,000.00 and above. Where is the constitutional provision that requires Administration to submit project proposals to the Board? None!
On left, Felmausa’s Chief Executive, Mohammed Dukuly is seen sharing a moment with one of the Federation’s Academic Scholarship Recipients. Over 100 students (non-Mandingoes as well) are being sponsored by Felmausa. Since their elections to various positions of trust in the Federation, Members of Felmausa’s Executive Committee have been on the move. They have made several visits to Chapters of the Federation; the have been at the Liberian Embassy and met with senior officials including Ambassador William Bull. They are at community functions making Felmausa’s relevance felt in Liberian communities. They have met with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf
And now they are on the sea, sailing to the mother land with needed humanitarian help. For God’s sake someone gone-tell me it is good but because you na tell me, it is not good – give me a break! The Board, as important as it is, needs to disabuse itself of this fruitless notion that a decision or wishful thinking of a hand-full of disgruntle elements can ever be imposed on the Federation’s membership, not even on the full Board of Directors. Sorry brothers! The cake is yet to be cut.
In fact, as Felmausa’s best may yet be expected, mysticism or callous mentality must have no place. The concept that the Board owns or should own Felmausa is anything but responsible thinking. The truth is that there is nowhere in the Felmausa constitution that requires Administration to submit anything called “PROJECT PROPOSAL” weather full, detail, comprehensive or haphazard.
Contingent there upon and to MAMA FELMAUSA, WE SHOULD, MUST AND WILL BE TRUE TO THEE TILL DEATH.
