REMINDER OF THE NUCLEUS OF RAMADAN
By: Gofin Kosia (6466519476)
Once more, assalaam aleikum .All praise is due to Allah, who out of His mercy gave us this unique opportunity to observe the last ten (10) days of the Holy month of Ramadan. The last ten days is the climax of the entire month in which LAILATUL KADR (the night of power) falls.
In the last ten days is a night which worship, charity, supplication is better than a thousand (83 years and 4 months ) of their kind in other months of the year. Prophet Mohammed is quoted to have said that an acceptable worship of Allah in that single night distances one seventy thousand miles (70.000 mls) away from hell fire.
In this very night the entire Qur’an was sent down by Allah (swt) from His Majesticity to the first heaven, and the first five verses of Suratul “IQR’A was revealed on planet earth. Subsequent revelations followed for the interval of 23 years, depended on prevailing situations. “We (Allah) have indeed revealed this (Qur’an) in the night of power” Qur’an 97:1
There is no specific date revealed to any servant of Allah as to what exact date it falls, but majmoo’ (major scholarly consensus), based on ahaadeeth (prophetic narrations) agree that it falls within the last ten (10) odd (21, 23, 25, 27 and 29) days of the month of Ramadan. The Prophet (a s) is quoted to have said that it was revealed to him in a dream but he forgot the date, he therefore urged us to search it in the last ten days.
According to our calculation, the last ten days begins tonight (Saturday, August 20, 2011).
RECOMMANDED DEEDS OF THIS LAST TEN DAYS
-TARAWEEH (The 8 or 10 rak’aats) after the Ish’a prayer
-TAHAJJUD (is almost like the above) but recommended to start from mid-night till before you eat your suhuur in the morning
-It is more profitable to pray in congregation, but doing it by your self is acceptable, but lesser in reward as compared to the previous.
-CHARITY: Any charitable deed that one can afford to the poor, needy and the destitute. Remember that when one provides a break-fast for a fasting person, you get the equivalence in reward of that person, without any one’s reward being affected.
-ZIKR: remembrance of Allah (s w t) through reading the Holy Qur’an, supplications etc
MERCY AND FORGIVENESS: Allah (s w t) is the Most Merciful and he loves those who are merciful and generous toward others that are in need.
To Allah belongs all perfection.
